ST20 Mechanical Systems (3 days)

Mechanical systems used in industrial applications will be examined including electrical, plumbing, mechanical and HVAC. HVAC principles and the control strategies used will be studied. Students will start with individual room control advanced to central control systems including the mechanical component that make up systems. Different control strategies will be emphasizing advantages of various systems used. Pneumatic and electrical controls will be examined.

  • Building systems, plumbing, electrical, mechanical
  • ON/OFF and proportional control
  • Pneumatic control
  • Sensors and controllers
  • IRC, central fan systems, VAV, multizone, mixing box control
  • System components
  • Heating and cooling coils, economizer
  • Sequence of operations
  • Preventative maintenance
  • Predictive maintenance
