"TOP 19" PEER’S PRESENTATION TIPS (PP Tips)

  1. Don’t say "ummm", "ahhh" or "you know"
  2. Don’t read the slides too much
  3. Make more eye contact with the audience
  4. Don’t speak too quickly
  5. Don’t rely too heavily on the textbook for examples – draw on your own knowledge and experience
  6. Watch the pace - be consistent
  7. If you’re nervous, it may help to rehearse more
  8. Watch volume of voice - don’t let it drop off
  9. Don’t forget to wrap-up your presentation, summarize or state your conclusions
  10. Don’t read from your papers too much
  11. Don’t repeat yourself on minor points, just the important ones
  12. Don’t look at the computer too much
  13. Elaborate on the points in the slides, don’t just recite them
  14. Use one animation type and stick with it (if one is appropriate)
  15. Listen to the other presentations – you may be able to link to it during yours
  16. Try not to stand in the corner for the whole presentation (noted: equipment limits this option)
  17. Watch foreground/background & text colors – optimize for room 4042
  18. Watch spelling and context/grammar errors in spelling
  19. Be aware of nervous actions and try to stop – "twiddling" objects, rocking or repetitive actions, etc.
