- Improves student satisfaction
- Gains students' trust and increases participation
- Improves quality of your instructional delivery
- Good teaching practice in traditional or online course
HOW?
- Use a START survey as the "course barometer" on course components, expectations, etc.
- Use a MID survey to assess the key items from the first survey AND subsequent progress
- Use an END survey for the same reasons as the mid, but assess progress across all three surveys
- Summarize results so students can see how you interpret their feedback
- Commit & respond appropriately (e.g. Acknowledge feedback? Publish results? Implement and document changes?)
- Keep it simple & short
- Respond in a reasonable amount of time
- Implement the improvements you CAN
- Explain why you CAN'T implement other things now, or when you can
