FLBU Graduate Chris Gravel

The Cambrian College Alumni Association is very proud to share with you the achievements of Physical Fitness and Leisure Management (FLBU) graduate, Christian(Chris) Gravel, Class of 2000. Chris is part owner of the newly opened Oasis Fitness and Wellness Centre in Richmond Hill at 11160 Yonge St. The official grand opening took place on January 8, 2001. Students of the FLBU program took a class trip to Oasis in March to see first hand what a graduate of their program had accomplished.

Chris’ official title is ‘Director of Personal Training.’ In addition to training and managing 15 trainers at his fitness and wellness centre, Chris uses his education to market his product. When asked what he finds most useful from the FLBU program now that he is in his field, Chris remarks included how the marketing classes and leadership program fully prepared him to become successful with this endeavor.

Bret the Hitman Hart, Canada’s own former professional wrestler with the World Wrestling Federation and the World Championship Wrestling, was the guest celebrity at the Oasis’ grand opening.

Chris draws his members to the largest fitness and wellness centre in Richmond Hill with his state of the art equipment, massive facilities and broad spectrum of products available to his members.

As well, Chris has established various incentives and benefits for his members. Chris recognizes his ‘Members of the Month’ on the Oasis website (www.oasisfitness.ca), is currently running a campaign where the member(s) with the greatest positive variance in fat loss and/or increase lean tissue will be awarded airfare and hotel to the Flamingo Hilton in Las Vegas, Nevada and he has established affinity partnerships with various organizations where his members can receive discounts and freebies as a member of the Oasis Fitness and Wellness Centre. All of these steps taken are great marketing tools established to ensure customer satisfaction and dedication. As a former heavy weight body building champion, Sudbury Heavy Weight Body Building Champions 1999, Chris continues with his own personal achievements. He is currently preparing for competition at the Eastern Ontario Championship in August 2001. Since he was a child, Chris had a natural athletic ability that progressed over the years. The Physical Fitness and Leisure Management program seemed like a logical choice to him and he is not looking back now. There are plans currently in the making to open an Oasis in Aurora, ON.
