The
Cambrian College Alumni Association is pleased to announce this year’s

Wells-McNeil - Nursing Class of 1995 and Occupational Nurse Mgmt. Class
of 1998

a ‘home-based’ business, while still a student at Cambrian
College, called ‘Kathy’s Home Care.’ Upon graduation,

St., which now employs 60 individuals and has a gross sales revenue of
over $1.3 million annually. In June 2000, the Sudbury Business Professional
Women awarded Kathy with both the "Women Entrepreneur of the Year"

A proud graduate
of Cambrian, Kathy recruits directly from her Alma Mater. Since 2000,
Kathy can count hiring at least 25 Cambrian graduates, and has been supporting
the RN and RPN ‘placement’ program since 1996. She cites the
dedication and professionalism of Cambrian's professors in the School
of Health and Human Services as her bench mark for successful recruiting.
Kathy does various presentations to elementary schools in the Sudbury
region, the nursing students of Cambrian, and to the community for the
Sudbury Health Unit.
Kathy was the first
‘recorded’ lobbyist to suggest that the interest on Student
Loans should be tax deductible and ran as a federal candidate in 1997
and 2000 for the the Canadian Action Party (CAP). She donates locally
to the ‘Run for the Cure’, Multiple Sclerosis Society and
Harvest Ministries. Kathy is also kept busy with the various community
programs such as ‘Women Helping Women’ program through Royal
Bank, the Massey Camp for Kids with Cancer, Hemophilia Ontario and has
sat on advisory committees for the Ministry of Community and Social Services
- Adult Development Services Local Advisory Committee and the Pioneer
Retirement Village, Health Care Committee.
Kathy married her
'college sweetheart' and fellow alumnus, Paul McNeil. Paul graduated with
