Ottawa’s Keeping in Touch
The Cambrian College Alumni Association hosted an inaugural Alumni Reception for all its members in the Ottawa Region on November 9th, 2000 at the House of Commons Parliament Buildings. The event was a tremendous success with over 200 guests in attendance. Alumni representation was fantastic with graduates from 1969 through to the Class of 2000! The reception was kindly sponsored by a former faculty member of Cambrian College, Ray Bonin, M.P. Nickel Belt and Nortel Networks. The Association is also proud to have had our affinity partners, Calrson Wagonlit Travel and Liberty Mutual, join us for this prestigious event. Dr. Frank Marsh, President of Cambrian College, brought back memories as he gave a historical overview of the College since 1967 and how the college has changed through the years and previewed the new SuperBuild initiative. Other speakers included Ivan Filion, Vice President of Academic, Brian Vendramin, Advancement Co-ordinator – Cambrian Foundation, Pat DiPietro, Vice President – Wireless Segment Nortel Networks, Shawn Poland, Manager – GAPP, Mrs. Caroline Cote, Mrs. Canada International 2000 and your Alumni Officer, Kimberley Glibbery. As the evening unfolded, a sense of pride and excitement filled the air as several generations of Cambrian Alumni gathered on Parliament Hill. Alumni members showed interest in "Keeping in Touch" and how they could be more involved with the Association. With today’s technology, geographical distance in no longer a factor in staying connected. Whether it is through the discussion board on www.went2cambrian.com or by establishing Alumni Chapters in specific regions, the Alumni Association is committed to helping all of our members stay connected.
