Cambrian
College hosted its first ever Alumni Reception on April 19, 2000,
on Manitoulin Island at the Manitoulin Secondary School in M’Chigeeng.
Manitoulin is one of Cambrian’s satellite campuses and has
a solid presence in the future of Cambrian College.
This was indeed a historical event for the College. The theme for the evening was "Keeping In Touch" and some sixty people attended the reception. Guest speakers included; Kerry Assiniwe, MCTV News, M.P. Brent St. Denis,Rick McCutcheon, Chair-Little Current Advisory Council, Kimberley Glibbery, Alumni Officer and Dr. Frank Marsh, Cambrian President. The evening allowed alumni a chance to meet other Cambrian graduates and to mingle with some of their colleagues and former teachers. There were plenty of pastries and refreshments to keep the members networking throughout the night. Alumni were informed of the benefits available to them as members of the Alumni Association and won various door prizes from Liberty Mutual, an affinity partner of the Cambrian College Alumni Association.
Dr. Frank Marsh is a major supporter of the development of an active Alumni Association and believes that this is only the beginning. He feels that it is important to keep Alumni connected and informed with their Alma Mater. It is a significant part of keeping Cambrian connected to the communities it serves, as well as being an initiative to show commitment to the Cambrian College Family. Dr. Marsh believes that such an event is only the beginning for our Alumni Association and future receptions and reunions are currently in the making. "KEEP IN TOUCH" for further details!
