The Cambrian College
Alumni, Staff & Faculty
Summer 2002 Alumni Golf Tournament
Mother
nature was on our side, once again, for the Cambrian Alumni, Staff &
Faculty 3rd annual golf tournament on Sunday August 25 at the Cedar Green
golf course!
Members from the
Class of ’71 to the Class of 2002 joined the faculty and staff of
Cambrian for a great day of ‘best ball scramble’ golfing.
Sylvia Barnard, Cambrian
College President, a self-proclaimed non-golfer and all round good sport,
greeted all the participants at hole #5 with a friendly wager to ‘make
their mark’ by beating her drive. Sylvia enjoyed meeting the members,
faculty and staff on such a casual basis. Although we all wanted her to
feel welcome, every golfer managed to ‘beat the prez’ by out
driving her! Faculty member, Louie Delonghi from the School of Business,
Media, Hospitality and Tourism, was sure to make the mark by hitting ‘Closest
to the Hole’ and winning the ‘portable’ table and chair
set donated by alumni member Chris Sheridan, Class of ’71, from
Christopher Ronald Contracting – Little Tikes.
Shanta Rangaratnam,
Hotel and Restaurant Management, Class of ‘94, and Dave Edwards
a friend of Alumnus Chris Sheridan, took home the prizes for the longest
drives this year, compliments of Classy Lady, Black Cat Too and Swytch
Delivery Systems.
The winning team,
Chartwells, Cambrian’s food service provider, with a score of 6
under par, took home this year’s grand prize compliments of CSI
(Cambrian Students.Inc)
Many thanks to this
year’s sponsors of the tournament. Our affinity partner, Liberty
Mutual, sponsored this year’s tourney once again with a chance for
our participants to win a car. Unfortunately, no "hole in one"
yet!
This year’s
tournament was the biggest yet, and has us gearing up for an entire new
format for next year!
