The Cambrian College Espanola Alumni Reception
This was an opportunity for Alumni members in the area to reconnect with their Alma Mater, and hear how the Alumni Association and the college itself is growing. Members were able to ‘revisit’ the college back to its days on Notre Dame Ave. up through the various stages of growth at the Barrydowne campus. They became informed of the Affinity Partnerships currently established and the benefits of being an active member of the Cambrian College Alumni Association. The evening began with mingling and continued with informative speeches from various guest speakers, Dr. Frank Marsh, Cambrian College President and Kimberley Glibbery, Alumni Officer. Espanola Councilor, Frank Gillis, acknowledged Cambrian’s presence in the town of Espanola, and noted the importance of higher education for the citizens of North Eastern Ontario. Member of Parliament, Brent St. Denis took time from his busy schedule to attend this reception as well. Mr. St. Denis is a former faculty member of Cambrian and remembered fondly his time at the College. Shawn Poland, Manager of the Global Ambassador Partnership Program (GAPP), informed the Alumni members of the Sudbury Regional Development Corporation’s initiative of establishing former Northern Ontario residents as Ambassador’s to the Sudbury region.
The refreshments were plentiful and the crowd was boisterous – a great time was had by all. Our next reception will be in the Fall of 2001 for all our Alumni Members in the Toronto region—(416) and (905) area codes – make sure your file is updated so you don’t miss this event!
